Overview
The Marketing Operations Manager serves as the operational leader of the marketing department, responsible for aligning strategy, people, processes, and technology to drive performance, efficiency, and internal client service. This role oversees marketing project management, departmental workflow integration, and the strategic implementation of AI-enabled systems.
This individual ensures that key marketing functions operate in alignment with firm priorities and service standards. The ideal candidate brings strong project management discipline, operational leadership experience, and a forward-looking approach to AI workflow design and automation.

Key Responsibilities
Department Operations and Project Management
- Oversee marketing department operations, ensuring alignment across all functional areas including digital marketing, communications, technology, client relations, business development, events, and proposals.
- Lead and develop a high-performing team to collaboratively and collectively advance marketing department’s strategic goals and priorities.
- Manage and coordinate cross-functional marketing projects and initiatives within the marketing portfolio. Monitor project health (budget, timeline, KPIs) and implement corrective actions as needed.
- Drive continuous improvement of marketing initiatives to increase efficiency, reduce redundancy, and improve internal client (attorney) experience.
- Establish and maintain governance frameworks for project intake, support guidelines, and workflows in marketing support areas.
- Develop standardized quarterly marketing reports and dashboards for KPI reporting.
AI Strategy & Workflow Automation
- Identify opportunities to integrate AI tools into marketing workflows (content drafting, analytics, research, CRM automation, campaign reporting, etc.).
- Design, document, and implement AI-enabled processes that improve efficiency and reduce manual workload.
- Partner with IT and compliance teams to ensure responsible and secure AI usage.
- Train marketing team members on AI best practices and workflow optimization.
- Measure ROI and performance impact of AI-driven initiatives.
Budget and Vendor Management
- Assist with the management of the annual marketing department budget in alignment with firm priorities and revenue goals.
- Evaluate ROI of marketing initiatives, technology investments, and AI implementations.
- Assist with vendor selection, contract negotiation, and performance management for agencies, consultants, technology providers, and other external partners.
- Conduct research to identify valuable vendor partnerships to improve effectiveness of services and drive efficiency.
- Ensure compliance with firm procurement policies and financial controls.
Requirements
Skills/Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree and 8+ years of related experience are required.
- 3+ years people management experience
- Prior law firm experience is preferred.
- Advanced AI ability and understanding required.
- Self-motivated and detail oriented.
- Strong collaboration skills to work effectively with other administrative departments.
- Strong writer who is able to draft and synthesize content into compelling messages.
- Outstanding project management and organizational skills.
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Office and project management and workflow tools.
- Demonstrated ability to prioritize and balance competing demands and meet deadlines in a fast-paced professional environment.
- Ability to work individually and collaborate effectively as part of a team.
